Makeup FAQs

  • How should I prepare my skin for make-up?

These steps are important in achieving beautiful glowing skin for your special event!

    Skin Prep:

    - Gently exfoliate at least twice every week, lips included.  If you don’t know where to start, these exfoliants work well for me:

    Keihl’s Micro-Dermabrasion

    Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant

    - Use a hydrating moisturizer liberally.  Look for ingredients such as Ceramides, Peptides and Hyaluronic acid.

    - You can use a hydrating sheet mask the night before your special day, but NOT the morning of.

    - Facials are amazing; once a month, up until 3 days before your special day.  Look for services that include extraction, exfoliation and hydration.

  • What should I bring for touching up throughout the day?

I will provide you with a some lip colour to touch up your lips throughout the day, along with some blotting paper.

Other items you may want to bring:

    - Tissue

    - More blotting paper/film

    - Lip balm (not Vaseline)

    - Lash glue (I suggest one that comes with a brush for easier application)

    - Pressed Powder; I enjoy the Fenty Blotting Powder for myself

    - Toner spray/Finishing Spray/Aerosol water mist to rehydrate the skin, and for cooling down if the weather is hot

  • Are there any services I should have done before my special day?

It’s the perfect time to pamper yourself. This is what I would recommend:

    - Facials; once a month, up until 3 days before your event day. Look for extraction, exfoliation and hydration

    - Facial Hair Removal, up until 2 days before your event. Areas I recommend are Brows, Upper Lip, Chin, Side Burns and Forehead

    - Lash and/or Brow tint, and Brow Lamination: up until 2 days before your event

    - Lash Extensions: Please ask for Volume or Hybrid style, with the lashes as thin as possible. B or C Curl. NO HEAVY LASH LOOKS PLEASE - it weighs down into your eye area and visually closes off the eye. I can also add more lashes if needed, but cannot take extensions off.

    - Massage: Make some time for yourself to enjoy a relaxing full body massage - it helps you relax before your big day!

  • What forms of payment do you accept?

I can accept cash on the day of, or e-transfer prior to your event day.

  • Do you require a booking fee?

A non-refundable booking fee of $150 as well as a signed Bridal Contract is required to book your date and time.

This will be deducted from your total cost on the day.

  • Are you willing to travel?

For your wedding day, I travel within the Calgary city limits. I can come to your home, hotel, salon, etc. If it is a salon, please ask them in advance if they mind your make-up artist coming and working there. Some salons have their own artists and may not welcome other artists setting up in their salon.

All makeup trials are done in my studio, at 909 10th Ave SW, inside Silver Orchid Salon.

I am also available outside of Calgary. Some popular destinations are listed under my Services. For all other destinations, please inquire.

  • Should I do my hair or makeup first?

Usually, Make-up Artists prefer Make-up first. Stylists will prefer Hair first.

To me, it really doesn’t matter. What matters to me is that you and your party are done in a timely manner so you are not running late for your ceremony or pictures. I will grab whoever is available and start working on them first, so we don’t waste YOUR time.

  • What kind of setup do you need to do my makeup on my special day?

    Thanks for asking!

Facing a large window is perfect as I like to utilize natural light. Not too sunny as you will get hot. A sizeable table for my makeup and tools, and a counter height stool or chair is perfect!

If you have any other inquiries, please do not hesitate to ask.

  • Where is your studio located?
